One week ago today witnessed the birth of my second child, Felix Leander Roy. This is the first time that I have written out his entire name. Ever. There have been many "firsts" happening in my house over this past week, some enormously beautiful, others incredibly challenging, all precious.
There's also a lot of learning going on. While Felix himself grows an alarming amount of neurons every hour or so and tests out thing like sleeping, yawning, grasping, and crying out, the other members of his family have countless opportunities to express and process the familial recalibration prompted by his arrival. Everything is washed with the sunlight of newness.
His birth was highly anticipated in our family, especially throughout the month of September. Beaches were strolled. Conversations were had. Massages were given and received. Stairs were climbed. Hot salsa was consumed. Songs were sung. I've included one such song below, which I wrote with a little help from my friends... Welcome home, Felix!
