Finissimo!

Today Jessica and I finished grading the finals for my Music for Humanities class! My first collegiate teaching experience is over. Such a good and stretching time and I can't wait to do it again! It's good to realize that this path I'm pursuing is both enjoyable and doable.

My class was full of jocularity, at least on my part. (And of course a concerto grosso is a concerto that's disgusting...) I had fun and tried to give that at least to the students who may have thought that classical music is all about frowning and angst and seriousness. For the final their Extra Credit portion on the back had the following: "Label and draw your favorite composer." (The other portion was " Name that bald composer" with pictures of Bruckner, Hindemith, Prokofiev, Sibelius, and Stravinsky.) We had a few laughs and they got 5 points. Here are our favorite composer pictures from the Music in Humanities class of Fall 2010!

I'm just going to say that it's one long, curly, French chest hair.

Is he running to hug me?

I'm just worried about the headless, needle-spewing elephant with a musical GI problem. Oh, and Mozart is on something.
Picture
Looks more like Mr. Burns or Schoenberg.
Picture
Baby Mozart looks malnourished. And like a zombie.
Picture
Nightmare before Christmas Oratorio.
Picture
Robot porpoise in the stocks with cadausus on his chest?

Einstein and Enya. ? Somehow I feel the assignment was misunderstood.

There should be another arrow pointing to his hip dysplasia, lack of shirt, and misspelled name.
Picture
'I would put that on the prow of my spice galleon.' - E.J.

I'm guessing the first one is Mozart. The second is a picture of an Erhu player I drew on the board.
Picture
Don't mess with gremlin Bach.
Picture
This is a perfect likeness.
Picture
Armless Copeland sitting on a downed kangaroo.
Picture
Jack-o-lantern Mozart.

This student appreciates etymology, but not anatomy.
Picture
I think all that music appreciation caused that lumber jack's head to shrink.
Picture
My ultimate favorite! Godzilla/Emperor Palpatine/Bach sticks it to pop music like no body's business!
